Åsele lies like a strategic hub in the forested landscapes.

It is the junction for several major roads stretching in different directions. This means communications are good. Both inland and coastal towns are easily reached. Lycksele and Vilhelmina airports are within a radius of 100 kilometres.

The region offers a wide range of natural attractions and activities. Deep forests to wander in, boat trips down the silently flowing river Ångermanälven, fishing in torrential streams and brooks, hundreds of tarns and lakes to bathe in. Excellent opportunities for hunting and fishing with comfortable local accommodation.

The region also has good public services and a wide choice of club activities. Our municipal district has one of the highest number of societies and clubs per capita in Sweden. We are working proactively to make Åsele even more attractive for the people who live, work and visit here.

Our biggest event is Åsele Market, always held on the third weekend in July, which attracts about 150.000 visitors.
